An electronic digital signature (EDS) is a signature in an electronic document that is created as a result of special transformations of the information contained in that electronic document using the private key of the electronic digital signature. Using the public key of the electronic digital signature, it makes it possible to confirm that the information in the electronic document has not been altered and to identify the owner of the electronic digital signature key.

In accordance with the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated October 12, 2022, No. ZRU-793 “On Electronic Digital Signature,” an electronic digital signature in an electronic document is equivalent to a handwritten signature in a paper document. It is also used to ensure the integrity (immutability) of information in an electronic document and to confirm authorship.

Registration of an EDS and issuance of EDS key certificates are provided in accordance with the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers dated May 10, 2018, No. 348 “On approval of the Administrative Regulation for providing public services for registering an electronic digital signature key and issuing an electronic digital signature certificate through Public Service Centers / the Scientific Information Center for New Technologies under the Tax Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan through Public Service Centers.”
